The Composition of Camellia Oil

To best understand the benefits of Camellia Oil it is important to begin with the fatty acid and vitamin content of Camellia seed oil.

Typically cold pressed Camellia seed oil will be comprised of all the Fatty and Essential Fatty acids naturally occurring in plant oils.  It is the ratio that is the most important factoCamellia_Oil_Compositionr as it is this unique value of Camellia oil that most closely resembles that of human sebum. So when Camellia oil is applied to the skin it is quickly and easily absorbed.

Omega 3

Up to 0.8% of Camellia seed oil is polyunsaturated fat  Alpha Linoleic Acid (Omega 3) required for EPA and DHA production.

Omega 6

Up to 10% of Camellia seed oil is duo-unsaturated fat (Omega 6) which is Linoleic Acid vital for good prostaglandin production in our bodies.

Omega 7 and 9

Up to 86% of Camellia seed oil is Oleic Acid, an Omega 9 fatty acid naturally occurring in skin sebum. This promotes the easy absorption of Camellia oil into our skin.

Saturated fat

Up to 10% of Camellia seed oil is Myristic acid and 3.5% Stearic acid which form the saturated fat aspect of Camellia oil.

Camellia seed oil naturally contains Vitamins A, D, E and K and polyphenols – all of these are anti-oxidants that can combat the effects of free radicals.
